As providers of essential infrastructure for the digital economy, Goodman has been developing its data centre capability since 2005. Since then, we have grown to become a large owner of powered sites globally.

Our global power bank of 5.0GW includes completed facilities, secured power and potential data centre projects across 13 major international cities. This has been built up over time through our expertise in securing land, planning and power in highly sought after locations in major global cities. 

Goodman has delivered 0.6 GW of data centres and powered sites globally for its hyperscale and co-location customers. Our global data centre portfolio today includes a number of existing and brand-new data centre and technology hubs. 

Goodman Group and its Partnerships have strong balance sheets, liquidity and low gearing. We’re well positioned to adapt to pursue investment opportunities and deliver on our customers critical infrastructure needs at scale.

Goodman is committed to increasing energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources in its building designs. 

Our energy initiatives include: 

Design 
We incorporate sustainable design features in the design of our data centres and specify higher-performance thermal building envelopes in some regions to optimise energy performance. 

Heat recovery
In cooler regions, we consider  waste heat utilisation in our initial designs, utilising waste heat from data centres for district heating systems or close by buildings heating.

Cooling systems
Our designs typically feature dry-air and closed-loop water cooling systems providing climate resilience and preserving water in drought susceptible regions. We also ensure adaptability to fluid-based cooling solutions for specific intensive usage.

Production and usage of renewable energy
Ideally, our customers use renewable energy to minimise emissions, sourced partially from solar PV we provide where possible.

In FY23, 85 percent our top 20 global customers (by rent) have public operational emissions reduction and net zero targets, and 70 percent have renewable electricity commitments. 

Optimising power usage effectiveness (PUE)
Our data centres are designed to achieve state-of-the-art PUEs. We commit to optimising energy efficiency by using advanced cooling technologies, implementing innovative designs for airflow management and employing other sustainable practices.

We typically focus on energy efficiency, renewable energy and reducing embodied carbon in areas we can control and where we can have influence across our value chain.

Reduce, reuse, recycle
We prioritise the use of locally sourced recycled raw materials, aligning with sustainable construction practices.

Zero waste to landfill
We are transforming our processes to divert waste from landfill during construction. 

Preserving natural resources
We prioritise urban infill or brownfield development sites, which make up over half of our global development pipeline.

This approach enables us to recycle and reuse finite materials, reducing waste to landfill and upfront embodied carbon during construction.

Committed to preserving natural resources, we focus on maximising on-site renewable energy production. Our initiatives include reducing potable water usage through closed-loop cooling systems and repurposing waste heat in district heating networks or for local community benefits.

Circular design
Our design approach is meticulously planned, considering each building’s end of- life phase to substantially minimise material waste.

We are committed to minimising ‘embodied’ carbon emissions in all our developments, aligning with our pledge to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) reduction goals. Our strategy includes investing in understanding and mitigating our environmental impact through a series of targeted actions and continuous improvement in emissions management.

Through material selection and optimising our use of materials during the design and construction process, we can reduce our upfront embodied emissions and enhance the energy efficiency of our buildings.
